IT GRC Congress 2024: Conflicting goals between data protection and IT security

On June 3 and 4, 2024, the IT GRC Congress 2024 of the professional association “IT Revision, Information Security Managers and IT Governance Experts” will take place in Hamburg. This year, our expert, Bernd Kohler, will once again shed light on an exciting and future-oriented topic of the specialist group on data protection.

On Tuesday, June 4, starting at 2:45 p.m., the speakers will discuss the topic of “Conflicting goals between data protection and IT security” in an on-stage discussion. The focus will be on the question of how conflicts between data protection law and IT security requirements can be resolved:

• Data protection vs. incident response: how can we effectively resolve security incidents without violating data protection principles?
• Transparency vs. secrecy: Should we make all security incidents public in order to learn from them, or is secrecy necessary to avoid providing information to attackers?
• Automation vs. manual review: What role do automated security tools play compared to human expertise?
